thecomputersociety.org Radio Service
Our radio Here at thecomputersociety.org we are using three sound formats .wav sounds, .mp3 sound files and .mid (midi) music. Out of the box the default Mircosoft Media player will deal with these three forms quite nicely. One serious issue for Internet sound is that many computer users mess with or or alter the initial set up of their audio systems. There are many other media players Winamp, Real Player and Quicktime to name three. Audio programs often scramble audio settings and file associations. There are also some alternatives to these programs that do not take over our computers so much. (see our software page) In the near future we will post a complete discussion of how to set up and maintain one's audio settings for Interent sound, in our education section. The following link below to our radio service is a test, of your audio system. We have a short two minute test show for your amusement. It consists of an announcement followed by two music sections then closed by an ending announcement, formed as a playlist that should automaticly play for you. If your browser asks to open or save, choose open. Let us know if it works or not at contact@thecomputersociety.org as we are trying to settle on a format that works for the most of us.
